Bottega encourages wine companies to match or surpass its sustainability efforts : The Moodie Davitt Report

Italian winery and distiller Bottega has underlined its sustainability

Italian winery and distiller Bottega has underlined its sustainability credentials and encouraged interaction from other wine producers and distributors.

In Bottega's Sustainability Report 2022, the company's President Sandro Bottega said: "In an increasingly worrying climate context, the Bottega company continues to invest in environmental sustainability, with the awareness that a green company must set increasingly ambitious goals, in order to become a benchmark for its sector.

"In this case, emulation by competitors is not only welcome, but is encouraged in the interest of all."

Bottega's vineyards are cultivated according to organic farming criteria

Bottega uses innovative adhesive labels made from 100% recycled plastic from ocean waste for its wine bottles. Its eye-catching metallised bottles feature water-based varnish and, to increase recycling efforts, dark bottles are made with at least 50% recycled glass. The company points out that the glass can be recycled without any reduction in quality.

Bottega also uses only FSC Mix-certified cartons in packaging and its distinctive bottle design is designed to encourage recycling as carafes and other containers. Further details from the Sustainability Report can be found here.

As reported, Bottega supported The Moodie Davitt Smile Raising Charity Dinner on 6 May by supplying its Prosecco, which was served at the welcome drinks and the stand-out bottles featured on every table.
